Wildlife Art?

I was all set to give the lawns a bit of a nudge today but alas my mower decided to die (yay!). So instead, I thought I'd put together a few pics and post them under a whole new heading for this blog: Art.

Can wildlife be art?. Well, no - it can't. But a photograph, painting, sculpture etc ... of wildlife as the subject can. The idea being that something's art when it exists solely for its own sake.

With that in mind here are a few pics, I took, that to me are a little bit 'arty'.

The humble house gecko

(Hypolimnas bolina) The checks in the eye contrast nicely with the netting

This Giant Grasshopper chewed a convenient portal to shoot through

A bronze dragon

Limiting the colours gives this otherwise drab little dart butterfly some depth

Leaving a little colour hints at the splendour of this Litoria xanthomera

I can't tell you how much fun I've had putting this post together. The freedom to simply play and create another aspect in which to view the subject from my own pics is a blast. Okay, so I'm no 'artist', but I'm gonna give myself points for sheer enthusiasm lol.

Anyhoo, I hope you enjoyed the post as much as I've enjoyed making it - take care
